Primary Mathematics Subject Network

These subject forums are a partnership between the HTSA and Hackney Education. 

They utilise the specialist knowledge of HTSA experts and leaders and are an opportunity for subject leaders to stay informed and share best practice.

They are FREE for HTSA members!

If you would like to book a place please contact the us at htsa@clapton.hackney.sch.uk and we can share a code with you to get your free place.

 Introduction 

Welcome to Hackney's Primary Maths Professional Learning Community, a dedicated space for sharing good practice, staying abreast of the latest ideas and research conclusions, and tackling the challenges unique to the role of maths leads. Our community provides a platform for deepening subject knowledge and understanding, ensuring members remain current with innovative strategies and methodologies. By connecting with other organizations and experts, we enrich our collective approach to teaching maths, fostering an environment where educators can collaboratively discuss and overcome the difficulties inherent in their roles. 

Thursday, 14th November 2024

1. Ofsted Readiness and Reviews

  • Provide an overview of current Ofsted requirements for maths, share best practices for readiness, discuss preparation for inspections, and hold a Q&A session.

3. Plans for the Year

  • Outline objectives for the year, discuss upcoming maths competitions and participation, collaborate on engaging students, plan termly updates online for half an hour, and set timelines and responsibilities.

4. Curriculum Design

  • Review current maths curriculum design, discuss integrating new research and ideas, share successful models and approaches, brainstorm improvements collaboratively.

5. Open Discussion

  • Addressing any additional questions or concerns

  • Sharing ideas and suggestions for future meetings

  • Setting action items and next steps

  • Confirming date and agenda for the next meeting
